- Description
- The three-movement piano piece "Prelude, Aria and Scherzo" was written in the beginning of summer 2007. The content and formal conception of the piece find their inspiration in neoclassical expression whereat each movement keeps its idea and character. The bitematic Prelude is based on an imitation principle as well as on constant rythmical movement, often close to toccata-style. The middle movement, written in the manner of Aria, is a contrast to the other two virtuoso movements. The main melody, based on intervals of seconds, is accompanied by constant hypnotic pulse. After turbulent climax, Aria starts to dissapear and ends in far sounds of harmonies from the begining of the movement. It is followed by classically built Scherzo whose dance character, lyricism and humour bring the piece to the virtuoso ending.
